With the release of the new Monsterverse film, Godzilla X Kong The New Empire, Playmates is also churning out a ton of action figures for your collection. I also do collect Playmates figures and I would say I have em’ all but I also want everyone also to get those as well and for that I will be providing you a list of what has been released per wave and I will share links from where you can get them.

Wave 1:

6” Figures:

  • Godzilla with Heat Ray
  • Godzilla Evolved
  • Kong with B.E.A.S.T. Glove
  • Shimo with Frost Bite Blast
  • Skar King with Whiplash
  • 3.25” Suko with Titanus Doug* (Because Suko and Doug are smaller, they are packed together and sold as a pack)

These are the mainline figures and they are surprisingly affordable figures. I like how Suko and Titanus Doug comes together in one pack and so you do not have to go looking for them separately. Some also comes with a little accessory, Kong comes with H.E.A.V. and Suko comes with a little rock. I always make sure to get these and this line is usually the most popular. There were times when I could not get my hands on some of the figure and I had to buy it from eBay. Make sure to get them when you get your sights on it before its too late!!

6” Versus 2-Pack Figures:

  • Kong Vs. Skar King
  • Godzilla Evolved Vs. Shimo

The Versus Packs come with cardboard diorama pieces The Godzilla vs. Shimo set includes breath weapon effects pieces for both Titans, a two-piece blue Hollow Earth Crystal Diorama, and a two-piece Bone Cage Diorama, while the Kong vs. Skar King set comes with a removable Whipslash, a H.E.A.V., a two-piece purple Hollow Earth Crystal Diorama, and a two-piece Lava Falls Diorama. The figures in these packs are all repaints of figures from the 6″ inch lines but the coloration is a lot better. Even though you would get double of a Titan but at least they are different from the mainline and I highly recommend to get these!!

Battle Roar Figures:

  • Battle Roar Kong
  • Battle Roar Godzilla Evolved
  • Battle Roar Skar King
  • Battle Roar Shimo

I actually do not prefer this line of figures because it is a very gimmick-based line with only just a sound effect by pressing a button but the 2 Apes are unique as it can open and close but the skin around the mouth are made of rubber so it actually looks quite natural. They come around 7” and does not go quite well with the mainline figures. Unless you just want the 4 main monster figures, then this is a great line to get.

Titan Roar Masks:

  • Godzilla Titan Roar Mask
  • Kong Titan Roar Mask

As you might have guessed from the name, these are masks of Godzilla and Kong but only those two though, no Skar King or Shimo and it is great for kids. For me, as an adult collector, not so much. But if it intrigues you, by all means, get them!

Hollow Earth Crystals with Surprise Monsters & Mini-figures:

  • Godzilla
  • Godzilla Evolved
  • Kong
  • Kong with B.E.A.S.T. Glove
  • Shimo
  • Skar King
  • Suko
  • Titanus Doug
  • Wart Dog

No figure line is complete without a line of mini-figures and I highly recommend to get them from where ever you can because not only they sell out fast but they sometimes have species which are not available in the mainline and this time it is the Wart Dog, the dog-like monsters at the beginning of the film when they were hunting Kong.

As for the Hollow Earth Crystal with the surprise mini-figure, I am not quite sure on that because they are completely random and only comes with, you guessed, the 4 main Titans, that’s it. Plus. the crystals does not do much other than just being a packaging and you would have to throw it anyway. Skip the crystals, but definitely get the individually packaged minis!!!

3” Mini-figures:

  • Godzilla Evolved
  • Kong with B.E.A.S.T. Glove
  • Skar King
  • Shimo

Now, for this line of mini-figures, I have no idea why this line exists when there is already a mini-figure line though these ones have very limited articulation and a little bigger than the regular minis but still, I do not understand the reasoning but if you only wanted the main 4 Titans but at a slightly medium-scale, then go for it!

Titan Evolution Godzilla

This is literally the only figure in the line because of the gimmick. You can take of the old Godzilla by removing the skin and you find a Godzilla Evolved figure underneath. It is a little unnerving to me, actually just skinning off Godzilla does not sit right with me and I would not recommend this figure because it is also quite smaller than the mainline as well, so…. you got the point already. No need to buy this figure at all.

11” Giant Figures:

  • Godzilla Evolved
  • Kong
  • Skar King

Finally, the main thing people want from Monster movie toys is Monster-sized action figures and that’s where this line comes in. For the 1st Wave, they are starting off with the 3 out of 4 main Titans. They have decent articulation for 11” figures. Do get this line of figures if you have spare space in your homes to decorate.

Wave 2:

6” Figures:

  • Godzilla Energized with Drone
  • Kong with Battle Axe
  • Mothra with Jia
  • Tiamat with Submarine
  • Drownviper
  • One-Eye
  • Godzilla Real Feel
  • Kong Real Feel

Alright, the 2nd Wave is definitely crazy because I did not even imagine that they would make a Tiamat figure or a Mothra figure and both of these are incredible. I love the Tiamat figure a lot and it has so much articulation that it is crazy for a general toy to be this good in this economy is unbelievable.

Do yourself a favor and get the Tiamat figure because it will definitely become rare. Mothra is also pretty good and it is quite a decent figure but the Jia accessory is alright, I would have preferred a web attack or a H.E.A.V which would make sense too but its good either way. The last 2 are repaints and they are fine as usual but the highlight is definitely the Tiamat figure. This gives me hope that we might even see a Scylla figure, fingers crossed.

Well, we did get something other than Scylla and they are Drownviper and One-Eye Great Ape. I find it to be super surprising that they are willing to spend money in making obscure or low screentime monsters like Drownviper. I am pretty sure most people did not even know what is Drownviper and One-Eye must have been gotten mixed with hundreds of Great Apes shown in the film. Either way, I appreciate them doing this.

Also, Playmates is doing Real Feel of Godzilla and Kong and this also surprises me more because they would have to be fully rubber figures and they really took the inspiration from Mattel’s line of Jurassic World figures. I love this kind of innovation and competition and I hope Playmates continues making more figures for next year as well.

Hollow Earth Crystals with Surprise Monsters & Mini-figures:

  • Mothra

So, for 2nd Wave of Mini-figures, I found out that they are gonna release more figures in the Hollow Earth Crystals and it will come with Kong, Titanus Doug, Suko, Wart Dog and maybe the regular Godzilla or Godzilla Energized. It is hard to understand from the picture itself but most likely the regular Godzilla and another new surprise entry, Mothra. Mothra is also in the Mini-figures line. This gets me so excited, I really hope they make more minis and new Titan figures for next waves!!

11” Giant Figures:

  • Shimo
  • Mothra

Giant figures make a return with 2 new figures, Shimo and Mothra!!! I am quite happy that Mothra is being pushed so much into the forefront so that the general audiences can acclimate with her a bit more and so that she can have a solo film, too much of a stretch anyway. But yeah, if you are getting Giant figures, do not forget to get these guys, you know how it is collecting nowadays.

13” Mega Figures:

  • Godzilla Evolved
  • Kong with B.E.A.S.T Glove

These figures are a new addition to this wave and I actually have not seen them hitting the shelves but you maybe lucky. Now, these ones are even bigger than the Giant figures by 2” though but they at least come with some action features like Godzilla eyes and spines glow and he blasts a Heat Ray!!! Not really, it is just a water mist with red lighting from the mouth but pretty cool nonetheless while Kong comes with fist swinging feature and both of them roars as well. I feel like this is the ultimate Monster-size figures and a definite must by for your collection!!

Ultimate Titan Battle Pack:

And what a showstopping toy pack for the year of Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire, a literal pack full of the main monsters which showed up in the film with a lot color improvements. Godzilla looks like it has the right shade of purple and pink along with Kong having a more icy texture and Skar King having a more reddish-orange colors and Shimo having a vibrant gradient of dark purple-blue with a Mothra thrown in for good measure. This set is truly the Ultimate set for any Monsterverse fan!!

Titan Size:

And for the finale of this titanic toyline, we have the Titan Size Godzilla and Kong. These figures are around 24 inches tall or 2 feet. At this point, they might soon make a life-size Godzilla and Kong figures. I am kidding but it will be sick if they ever make a life-size statue, it would be crazy. Be sure to get them if you have enough space for these Titans!

Conclusion:

And that is mainly it for the line currently and I will make some updates if there are things to update. Please do let me know if I missed anything in the comments. I hope I helped to make you collecting the figures a little easier and I hope you can check out the links and my blog too!! See you again soon!!
